We celebrate peace at school / Celebramos la paz en la escuela

These are the days in which we celebrate peace at school. In fact, this celebration happens daily, but we want to mark the word peace in our classrooms, making pupils think about the real meaning of peace and what we can do to make it really work.

Hello, I'm Wakana... / Hola, soy Wakana...

Hello, I'm Wakana. I'm 21 years old and I was born in Nara, Japan but grew up mostly in Auckland, New Zealand, where I am living now. I have just finished studying at university in Auckland where I studied Sociology and Education. Auckland is a very interesting city and it is very culturally diverse, many different people from all across the world live here. Auckland sits on a lot of volcanoes which makes it very hilly. It is also surrounded by many beautiful beaches! While Auckland is a big city, the rest of New Zealand has a lot of forest, mountains and other beautiful places.
Nara in Japan is very different from New Zealand. In Nara, there is a famous park with a temple that has a huge statue of Buddha inside it. And this temple is surrounded by a park full of wild deer! It is very cool.
In Auckland, I live with my family, my dad, my mum, and my two younger brothers. My dad is an English teacher and my mum works at a cafe. My whole family is obsessed with soccer! Especially my brothers. I'm not much of a fan of soccer as they are but I love to go out and meet new people and explore new places. During the summer time my favourite thing to do is to go to the local beach. I also really enjoy reading. At the moment I work at my favourite cafe which is really fun too.
I am really looking forward to arriving in Lucena and meeting everyone. It is very exciting!!

Hola, Soy Wakana.
